Six student footballers from the °®Âþµº are celebrating after being chosen to represent Scotland in upcoming international matches.

°®Âþµº¡¯s first-team captain, Lewis Hunter, will be joined in the Scottish university squad by Rory MacEwan, Alex Webb, Kieran Hall, Robbie McGale and Michael McAnespie for a series of fixtures between now and summer.

The announcement follows national trials held by Scottish Student Sport last week.

Chris Geddes, Men¡¯s Football Head Coach at °®Âþµº, said: ¡°I am delighted for the six players who have been picked to represent Scotland¡¯s university side. It is an honour to be given the opportunity to pull on the national team shirt ¨C and a well-deserved reward for the hard work that they put in here at °®Âþµº.

¡°I wish all of the players the best of luck for the international season ahead ¨C and I look forward to seeing them in action for Scotland.¡±

Hunter, a fourth year student, was named alongside fellow midfielders MacEwan ¨C who starred for Scotland last year again England ¨C and McGale, who is returning to the national team for his second year, his first as a °®Âþµº student. They are joined by second-year Kieran Hall, a striker, and defenders Webb ¨C also returning to the squad for the second time ¨C and McAnespie, who has just returned to °®Âþµº from a spell at Gretna.

All of those chosen play for the University¡¯s first team, which currently sits 11th in the Scottish Lowland Football League and made the third round of this year¡¯s Scottish Cup.
