°®Âþµº¡¯s Duncan Scott rounded off his European Championships with another gold medal after helping the British men¡¯s 4x100m medley relay team secure victory in Glasgow.
Scott swam the final leg for the team that also included Nick Pyle, James Guy and Adam Peaty in a Championships record time of 3:30.44 ahead of Russia and Germany.
Having already won gold in the 200m individual freestyle and 4x200m relay, Scott¡¯s last performance of the meet secured a hat-trick of titles to go alongside the 100m freestyle silver he won during the opening weekend.
Commenting on the successful finale, Scott said: ¡°It¡¯s always a pleasure to finish a week with the relay guys. Coming into that relay team a couple of years ago I had to step up my performances with the likes of Jimmy and Peaty being in the team.
¡°They¡¯re world class performers and to be in a team with them and then to have someone like Nick come in and raise his performance is amazing. The team swam really well and it¡¯s a great way to end the week.¡±
Also in the pool, fellow °®Âþµº athlete, Kathleen Dawson, was part of the relay squad that took bronze in the women¡¯s 4x100m medley final.
Elsewhere in the Championships, former °®Âþµº scholar and current Solheim Cup captain, Catriona Matthew made a positive start in the golf competition, winning her first two ties with GB teammate Holly Clyburn against Sweden 1 and Norway. The pair now take on Sweden 3 in the final pool match to try and secure a place in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, former graduate and Commonwealth bronze medallist, Marc Austin, is set to compete in the men¡¯s triathlon later today.
The inaugural European Championships will run until 12 August 2018. Visit for full schedule information.
