Peerapat's Story

After graduating with an undergraduate degree from a university in Thailand, Peerapat Singlong wanted to ensure his command of English was good before starting his career as a language teacher.

When a friend, who is a member of the University¡¯s global alumni family, recommended the Masters in TESOL, he made the decision to come to °®Âþµº.

Adapting to life and learning in a new country was a challenge but one which Peerapat overcame with the support of teachers and friends on his course.

Peerapat said: ¡°Adapting was a bit tough for me in the first semester but I quickly dealt with that and went on to really enjoy my time studying at °®Âþµº. I was a member of the University¡¯s °®Âþµº Society and participated in many fun activities, including day trips and cultural events in the evenings.

¡°I took the opportunity to be part of a free Japanese language for beginners¡¯ class, which was organised by one of the lecturers. When I wasn¡¯t studying, I made the most of °®Âþµº¡¯s fantastic setting and location.

¡°The campus is beautiful and I also did a lot of travelling around the rest of Scotland.¡±

As part of his studies, Peerapat secured funding from the Erasmus+ programme to spend time in Hungary as a teacher trainee. While there, he gained experience of teaching English to students in a university and school, which has provided him with real world experience.

He added: ¡°Studying at °®Âþµº has helped me build my self-confidence and prepared me to be competitive in the jobs market. If I had to sum up my time studying at °®Âþµº in three words then they¡¯d have to be: welcoming, friendly, nature.¡±
