Anita's Story
Masters student Anita George excelled to such a degree while studying at °®Âþµº that she scooped a top industry award and full-time job thanks to quality of her work during a placement.
Anita scooped the top accolade at the Data Scientist 2.0: Talent Driven Innovation conference in recognition of the work she undertook while on placement with NHS National Services Scotland ¨C and now works full-time for the organisation.
What makes Anita¡¯s success more impressive is that she had no previous data analysis experience before undertaking her Masters at °®Âþµº, after securing a scholarship from Data Lab. The °®Âþµº local, originally from India, previously worked as an architect before taking a career break.
She said: 'It has been a whirlwind year since starting my studies at the °®Âþµº Management School.'
'The course was challenging, and a big career change from architecture. I enjoyed the course, and I got to meet many professionals and students around Scotland who were passionate about Data Science through the University¡¯s partnership with the Data Lab. My work placement with the NHS was extremely valuable, as it led to an offer of a full-time job.'
'The employability and personal development workshops held as part of my course were instrumental in helping me build the transferable skills required to go into the workplace as a data analyst.'
'The wide range of different cultures and nationalities on my course and across the campus also played a part in my own personal development and ability to work in a team.'
