Social Surveys and Social Statistics Research Group
We bring together researchers focusing on the analysis of large and complex statistical datasets to understand a wide range of social phenomena and social problems.
Our expertise supports the Faculty for Social Sciences's research centres. The group¡¯s strategic priority is to contribute to high quality applied and methodological research related to the analysis of statistical datasets.
Group members have expertise in the organisation, and model-based analysis, of large-scale secondary datasets from social surveys and from administrative/by-product sources. They also develop their own substantive empirical research in a number of areas notably
- social stratification
- social networks
- education and inequality
- demography and social care
- ethnicity and immigration
Group members also play critical roles in providing empirical research support to larger projects and as part of wider multi-disciplinary and cross-institutional teams.
