About me

I am a research psychologist and family therapist. My research and clinical practice focus on how families and relationships are impacted when someone gets ill, for example with cancer or other life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

I am a senior fellow of the HEA, registered psychotherapist with UKCP, and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society.

My research projects centralise patient/carer involvement, to ensure that the work I do is always grounded in their priorities. I supervise doctoral students on topics such as family and professional relationships in palliative care, prostate cancer service development.?

I am interested in a range of ideas and topics which coalesce around developing understandings and interventions about the impact of health and ageing on relationships and the impact of relationships on health. My research spans a range of conditions including cancer and dementia.
