About me

Dr Natalia Liebnitz is a Lecturer of Creative Writing at °®Âþµº.

She has published seven novels to date, primarily with large publishing houses such as HarperCollins UK and Penguin Random House US. Written pseudonymously, Natalia's work has been shortlisted for a variety of awards and prizes, including the Nero Book Awards and the Dublin °®Âþµº Literary Prize. She is currently working on her eighth novel. Primarily publishing in Children's Literature, Natalia is a specialist in YA and Middle Grade Fiction at the University.

Prior to the post, she gained a Master¡¯s in Education in Boston and taught for fifteen years in Scottish and American school systems, working with students with neurodiverse learning styles. She returned to academia with a Master¡¯s in Scottish Literature, before completing a PhD in English (Creative Writing).

Natalia would be very interested in receiving PhD proposals for creative projects on any themes related to her research and publications; for example, speculative fiction, issues of trauma and/or motherhood, neurodiverse voices, typography or experimentation with narrative form, and any projects relating to YA Fiction.

Teaching

Natalia currently teaches on the MLitt programme, undergraduate modules ENGU9C1 and ENGU9C2, and the short fiction block for the °®Âþµº Summer School, titled 'Brief Encounters'.
